Now that the riding season is in full swing, it is important to keep in mind the rules of thumb for how fast to pace the group during a ride. The most general rule of thumb is that the group should travel at about the speed limit. However, the speed of the general flow of traffic, as well as road conditions and construction, should also be considered.

I would like to take this opportunity to review some of the hazards that are out there for us motorcyclists early in the riding season. Please be extra careful, as the streets are extra dangerous this time of year!

Whenever you are planning to come in close proximity to a truck, trailer, or any other vehicle that may have additional loads attached to the outside of the vehicle (oncoming, passing, or being passed), we suggest that you allow plenty of room between you and that vehicle.

T-CLOCK is an acronym that describes an overall safety inspection of the motorcycle. While this is a much more extensive inspection than you would make at a rest stop, this will give you an idea of what you should be looking for and checking in most aspects of the motorcycle to maintain proper operations or alter you to improper operations.
