T-CLOCK is an acronym that describes an overall safety inspection of the motorcycle. While this is a much more extensive inspection than you would make at a rest stop, this will give you an idea of what you should be looking for and checking in most aspects of the motorcycle to maintain proper operations or alter you to improper operations.

*See Links at the end of the article for downloadable checklist for Motorcycles, Trikes and Trailers.

Trucks & Trailers – Give ‘em room

Whenever you are planning to come in close proximity to a truck, trailer, or any other vehicle that may have additional loads attached to the outside of the vehicle (oncoming, passing, or being passed), we suggest that you allow plenty of room between you and that vehicle. You should be wary of loose chains, straps, or even unsecured “barn doors” at the rear of a trailer. If any of these objects were to swing out and make contact with you, the outcome could be catastrophic.

The general GWRRA practice of riding in staggered formation allows for this brief temporary shift within your lane away from the vehicle in question, without major disruption to the formation of the group as a whole.
